2023 Recap

What’s better than surfing, music, and kids?

ALL OF THEM TOGETHER!

The 19th Annual Switchfoot Bro-Am was an epic gathering of friends, family, and giving back to this incredible Community!  We’re so honored that everyone came together to support kids experiencing hunger, homelessness, and other disadvantages right here in San Diego.

Together we raised over $150,000.  Thank You!

Proceeds from this year will benefit Bro-Am Beneficiaries: A Step Beyond, Challenged Athletes Foundation, Feeding San Diego, Monarch School, and Save The Music Foundation.

Every day you're alive, you can change the world. It could be for the better or for the worse. It can be big waves or small waves. The very fact that you're alive and breathing and walking outside, going to class, whatever it is, you're changing the world with each footstep. There's a lot of weight to that.

- Tim Foreman, Switchfoot

Our VIPs are the Kids!

Every year our favorite moments include seeing the joy and empowerment on the faces of our local youth and kids who need it most.  This year was no different with Keke, a Monarch School alumni,  singing “I Won’t Let You Go” with Jon, Save The Music students from Madison High playing “Meant To Live” with Switchfoot, and our Challenged Athletes Foundation surfers taking the stage!

YOUTH VIP AREA: Special Thanks to our new sponsor, Littrell Flooring. We’re so grateful for your support to make these kids feel extra special! Our friends from Viasat also came out with volunteers and lunch for the kids!

New This Year…

This year’s Bro-Am Beach Fest included an expanded festival footprint with activations in the turnarounds at B Street and C Street including Food Trucks, BMW of Carlsbad, Kove’s surfboard shaping studio, and the REEF Oasis open to the public in the skybox!  REEF had Beach Fest goers covered, literally, in a shaded chill zone overlooking Moonlight Beach with drinks and games - and they hooked up a bunch of free sandals!

Bro-Am Behind The Scenes:

With a generous grant from Inherit The Music, students from Madison High got to go behind-the-scenes and see live radio interviews with Switchfoot, talk to programmers, producers, sales, and on-air personalities at iHeartRadio.  They also saw how the Bro-Am Beach Fest is built out, executed, and taken down within a day!  They talked with producers, engineers, college music students, and emcees to learn the scope of music industry careers available to them.  Huge thanks to Inherit The Music for bringing these dreams to life!

Bro-Am Volunteers ROCK!

The Bro-Am Events would not be possible without the huge heart and dedication of over 200 volunteers coming together to give this Community and these Kids the very best experience. We are so grateful for you!
