Over the past 4 years, the BRO-AM Foundation has had the honor of granting $80,000 to the Save The Music Foundation. You support, via BRO-AM, enables them to create a lasting impact on the lives of kids in 4 different elementary schools in Chula Vista, CA (south San Diego).
Recently, we had the privilege of making the Intro To Music Grant possible through the Save The Music Foundation. Providing not only the necessary instruments to get these kids rocking, but also once in a lifetime experiences and opportunities. For example, the students at Castle Park Elementary we invited to perform at both our Benefit Party and at our 15th Annual Beach Fest in front of a crowd of 17,000 people. Throw in some surf lessons and you have some stoked and grateful kids!
Not too long ago we caught up with Hans Chamberlain, the Music Teacher at Castle Park Elementary to learn more about the impact participating in BRO-AM’s Benefit Party and Beach Fest had on him and his students.
““BRO-AM is by far the coolest opportunity I have seen realized in a school where I have taught. It has breathed new life into my music program, both for the students and for me as their teacher. One moment that sticks out beyond others was during the Benefit Party when my 4 students were on stage and Jon said “Let’s give some love for the beauty that is here.” That truly encapsulated the night. Beauty. I had to suck back a tear. All children have value and worth. That being celebrated is beautiful.
Another amazing opportunity that recently happened was when SWITCHFOOT reached out and invited me and the kids to tour their studio and record the glockenspiel and voice parts they performed on-stage at the Benefit Party and Beach Fest. It was the coolest thing as I let each kid read the email and watch their faces and the sense of accomplishment it gave them to know the band invited them back. Best field trip ever!”
