Needless to say, the year we've all had has changed everything. The way A Step Beyond was helping students thrive was no longer possible and just like the rest of us, how they went about making an impact in the lives of the kids they support needed to shift and adapt.
However, one thing remained constant, WHY A Step Beyond existed - to provide underserved youth with opportunities to take them beyond their expectations and ambitions.
So, how did an organization with a dance studio, tutoring services, makers space, leadership courses, and family services continue to create a bright future during such dark and difficult times? They decided to not simply ask the question “how do we survive these changes?” but instead tackled a question few were willing to take on - “How do our students thrive despite these difficulties and changes?”
A Step Beyond has shifted to provide online services to meet their students where they are, both literally and figuratively. They've created online dance courses, one-on-one virtual tutoring for every student in need, youth counseling services, weekly support groups for parents, and even went as far as providing rental & food assistance to their most needy families.
Now, because of your amazing support and the continued hard work of A Step Beyond they are excited to safely re-open their doors and provide certain programs in-person as well as continued support online.
